In Boulogne, a gated community plans to eliminate a valuable green space, which has triggered concern and opposition from local residents. The neighborhood assembly of Boulogne Verde opposes the advancement of private developments that would eliminate the last green lung in the municipality. Although Mayor Ramón Lanús has not commented on the matter, residents continue to fight to preserve the area as a public green space.
Residents warn that the proposed real estate project would result in the disappearance of a vital space in the city. Despite mentioning the creation of a boulevard as part of the project, neighbors criticize that this is only a minimal part of the total area that will be ceded by law. The area, previously an urban reserve, was rezoned for residential and commercial use, raising concerns about the transparency surrounding the project.
The community denounces the lack of transparent dialogue and the absence of an urban development plan that guarantees the preservation of green areas for all. The expropriation of the land in the 1950s and subsequent actions towards its privatization raise concerns about the environmental impact and the conservation of ancient trees on the site.
The local community is united in its rejection of the project to transform the green space into a gated neighborhood, demanding answers and listening to more than 9,000 neighbors who have signed in favor of the conservation of the natural area. Authorities at the local and provincial levels have been requested to declare protected areas for the general benefit of the community. The struggle to preserve this green lung will continue, aimed at ensuring access to nature for all residents of Boulogne.
